The Freshman Patriot's football team ended their season today with a GREAT hard fought and well played
game against their rivals from Howell. In the first half both teams played hard defense. Both teams moved
the ball on offense but not enough to get any points on the board. Then late in the second quarter, the Patriot defense
really put the pressure on the Rebels. When the Rebels found they were getting no where on the ground with their
running game they went with their air attack. Wrong move for them. The Patriots line
applied pressure to the QB while the Patriot's secondary played solid coverage. This resulted in a number of interceptions,
by Drew Intile, Dan Bloodgood and two of which were taken back for long touchdowns by Shane McGhee.
On the offense side of he ball, Shane, running from the tailback position, barreled through the Rebels line
all afternoon. QB Taylor Pine also found his favorite receivers, Dan Bloodgood and JP Blanco on multiple occasions resulting
in good yardage and moved the chains down field for a needed first downs..
The Rebels only score came on the second to last play of the game, on a pass play, which the receiver broke
away from his defender a went in for the TD.
The Patriots freshman team end their 2009 season with another winning year:
6 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie.

Patriots 21 Toms River So. Indians 0
From opening kickoff to the final play, the Patriots were dominant on both sides of the ball. The defense again came up
strong by not allowing allowing Toms River Indians on the score board. The offense seemed to score at will and by the
third quarter the score was 21 -0 and the game was put in the hands of the second string players who continued the attack
on both offense and defense. Another very strong showing by the Patriot Freshman Team.
Saturday will be the last game these boys play as Freshman against rival Howell, before many of them move up to JV and
varsity. They have come a long way and and their play has surely shown their progress through the season. It's
a true credit to these boys for the consistent effort they have put forth throughout the entire season. They came
in August as individuals from many different schools. They're leaving in November as a TEAM. This is all due to
the credit of the find job the coaching staff of Coach D, Coach Blanco, Coach Glick and Coach O' Brien have done
with this TEAM.
GREAT JOB EVERYONE

Patriots freshman team score early and the defense hold on to win a game against rival Jackson Jaquars.
Patriots only score comes on a 80 yard kickoff return by Drew Intile to the 2 yard line followed by a 2 yard burst through
the line from Shane McGhee.
In a well played game by both sides, the Patriots and the Mustangs Freshman football team's defenses were able
to hold each of their opponents to one TD. The Patriots scored first early in the first quarter on a 70
yard run from scrimmage by Drew Intile. The PAT was blocked and the score was 6-0 throughout most of the game.
Not until the closing minutes of the 4th quarter did the Mustangs mount a meaningful offensive attack and march down the field
to score their TD. A blocked extra point by Jeff Collucio of the Patriots denied the Mustangs from taking the lead and
resulted in the final score of 6-6. The Patriots showed some real promise in both their offensive and defensive play,
getting better and better each week. David Tajfel, wide receiver, made a number of key receptions
for the PATS during the game.

Incoming freshman football candidates go through skills and drills conditioning during their Patriots mini camp. The boys
are finding out if they have what it takes to play at the high school level. Besides proper conditioning they are learning
the basics of Patriot football formations, blocking and defense. Coming together from many different grammer schools
they are also learning to bond with each other and what it takes to become part of a team. The Patriot team.
